" I joined Shihan Beckham's Aikido School of Self Defense after over two years of careful consideration. I had visited various schools in the area and for various reasons, dismissed them. At most of the bigger schools, I felt that I would have been just another student. After years of quietly watching the goings on at the dojo, I came to realize that the school was a place of integrity where honor, morals and tradition were not only standard but revered.
These observations, coupled with the fact that the various Sensei are quite selective in who trains here, are all signs that what they are teaching is more than the average dojo. They teach more than just a method of self-defense. They teach a philosophy of leadership, peace and control. I have yet to be proven wrong in this thought and am quite sure that I never will. After joining, I found myself welcomed into a close-knit family. It has been a truly enjoyable experience.
I did not come here to learn to fight. I came to learn to protect my right to peace, no matter who may come to take that peace from me."
