Why I chose the Aikido School of Self Defense

" What would you do if your life was in danger? How would you react if a friend or loved one were threatened with physical harm? If you've ever wondered this, you are in the same frame of mind that I was when I felt the need to learn how to protect myself and what better place to start than an establishment called the Aikido School of Self Defense?

Over the course of several weeks, I observed a number of classes at the school and was particularly impressed that the instructors would take the time (even during class) to explain to me what they were teaching and why they were teaching it. They were also willing to remain after class and answer my questions.

I listened as the instructor spoke to the class about the importance of constant awareness of one's surroundings. He stressed the need to develop a focused mental attitude. The instructor provided instruction in the proper physical techniques of self-defense along with pointing out mistakes to avoid. I felt the school provided a safe environment where a student could practice their new skills and develop the confidence needed to incorporate those skills in real life situations.

I began my study of Nihon Goshin Aikido under Shihan Beckham two years ago and firmly believe that I made the right decision to become a student at the Aikido School of Self Defense."
