Why I chose the Aikido School of Self Defense

" I joined this dojo because I wanted to learn self-defense. As a woman, I am especially vulnerable to attack. This school teaches practicality and philosophy of fighting so I can be prepared for an attack on the street. I am able to build my strength and endurance through class exercise. These physical aspects will help me to be better prepared for an attack. I have also learned important parts of self-defense that I would never have thought of.

The best defense is to run away. It is also easy to distract an attacker by simply yelling or spitting in his face. These simple ideas have helped me to think outside the box when analyzing a defensive technique. I appreciate the teaching style that proceeds only as I am able, but encourages me to do better. This dojo strengthens both the physical and mental aspects of my defense which will help me to be the best defender I can be."
